why we selected 316 stainless steel
We decided to make Padlock Guard from 316 stainless steel and not 304 stainless steel because 316 stainless steel has additional benefits.
316 stainless steel is used to manufacturer products that need to resist corrosive environments.
some of these include
- tanks and storage vessels for corrosive liquids
- specialised processing equipment in chemical, food, paper, mining, pharmaceutical and petroleum industries
- architectural applications in highly corrosive environments
- any location where there is sea water vapour or corrosive pollutants in the air
- any location where the temperature goes below zero or the opposite in extremely hot and humid locations
316 stainless steel
does not require an external finish
to protect it from corrosive elements
plus Padlock Guard has
- no moving parts
- no bolts or screws used
- nothing to came loose or get lost
due to the above facts
The Australian made Padlock Guard will last a life time eg. 25, 50 or 75 years no doubt longer due to the superior materials used to manufacture it but as the manufacturer we have to be realistic with the guarantee we give our purchasers.
We believe a 10 year guarantee gives purchasers 100% confidence they are buying a high quality security product from a 100% Australian owned business.

why not make Padlock Guard from mild steel
although mild steel
- is about one tenth the cost of 316 stainless steel to purchase
- is easier to work with
- would only take half the time to manufacture
Mild steel corrodes (rusts) quickly especially when used near sea water vapour and other corrosive elements.
plus
If we made Padlock Guard from mild steel we could only give our purchasers a 12 month warranty whereas making it from 316 stainless steel it will last a life-time.
